Umé Records is an ambient label inspired by New Age imagery, Japanese Environmental Music, and new forms of spirituality rooted in specific times and places. We are currently based in Tokyo, Japan.

Umé Records is an ambient-focussed label founded in 2018. It is inspired by New Age imagery, Japanese Environmental Music, and the search for new forms of spirituality rooted in specific experiences and contexts. It is also an exploration of the various meanings of 'ambient music'.

Each artist is given free reign to interpret the meaning of 'ambient' for themselves. Thus Umé Records will become a record of the myriad interpretations of 'ambient'.
